Newfoundland and Labrador is unique in many ways including its art and artists. I encountered this whalebone carving while wandering the streets of St. Johns with my Canon Rebel.

Wonderful carving. V/T. Several commercial fishermen in my family. One use to make crochet hooks for my Aunt from fish bones. One did simple scrimshaw. First time I have seen a carving. He has an Eskimo look to him. Very nice
